Javazon D2R Build Introduction

Lightning Fury Amazons are amongst the most popular builds and have been the favorite ones for Cow level farming. They are preferred by many due to their fast movement speed, great clearspeed, great survivability and fast boss-kill speed. They are also fun and relatively easy to play with. When monster density is high, they far outperform any other character in clearspeed. Their primary attacking skills are Lightning Strike for multiple targets, and Charged strike/ optionally Power Strike for single targets. There are plenty of monsters with lightning immunity, however if your mercenary has Infinity runeword as a weapon, with the Conviction aura in effect they can kill even the strongest bosses, including Uber Diablo, but Uber Tristram’s bosses will cause you trouble.

Javazons are a great choice if you look for a build to gain XP fast, farm the cow level or do party Baalruns. If you want to be able to solo the whole game, an Infinity runeword on your mercenary will be necessary for the lightning immune monsters, however if you play in a party, Paladins with Conviction aura and Necromancers with the Lower resist Curse can help you out. In high-end gear, you will be able to do solo Baal or Chaos runs within 3 minutes, or quickly kill Uber Diablo.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Super fast clearing, boss killing and movement speed
  • Can solo the whole game with infinity on merc
  • The damage output is super high for mobs and bosses aswell
  • Survivability is good, your character will rarely die, however i do not suggest it for hardcore
  • Can kill any monster, except Uber Tristram bosses
  • Very fun to play
  • Solo Baal or Chaos run takes roughly 3 minutes

Cons

  • Not a viable build for Uber Tristram
  • Many monsters are immune to lightning damage, you will eventually need an Infinity on your merc and a Griffon’s Eye to be able to kill them
  • Uses a lot of mana, so need mana potions, Prayer aura for merc or % mana stolen per hit on gear

Suggestions

Playing solo: Unless you have an Infinity runeword on your mercenary, you will need to farm specific areas that have few lightning immune monsters.

Playing in a party: In parties, especially Baal and Chaos runs Javazons are very welcome due to their immense area damage output. They can also be used as rushers for lower level characters.

Survivability, Hardcore: On Hell difficulty the build can achieve 75 all resistances, 75% block, over 4k life in addition to a bunch of passive skills that helps your survivability, however your defense will only be a few thousand. In case you want to avoid being frozen, use a Raven frost ring. Although you can improve your survivability by having Call to Arm’s Battle Orders, wearing a Guardian Angel for 90 all resistances, having elemental damage absorption items and % physical damage reduction items such as Verdungo and Crown of Ages, you will still need to play very cautiously on hardcore. Make sure to have your belt stacked with Full rejuvenation potions. Having Valkyrie up at all times also helps.

Damage output: The lightning damage output is tremendous, up to 4k per lightning fury bolt. With high enough Lightning Fury skill you can have over 40 bolts released simultaneously, so if you run into a big pack of monsters, it won’t take more than a few seconds to clear the area. Killing endgame bosses with charged strikes will only take a few seconds. If you want to max out your farming speed, i suggest using an enigma for teleportation and faster run and walk.

Where to farm: If you have an Infinity runeword on your mercenary, you can farm anywhere. Otherwise just skip lightning immune monsters. Solo Baal or Chaos runs won’t be doable without Infinity, but the build will still be ideal for farming the cow level or doing Boss runs.

Magic Find: The build has decent magic find potential, but you will need to fill your inventory with 7% magic find small charms and a Gheed’s Fortune. Reaching 400-500% magic find while maintaining a fairly fast kill speed is doable.

Budget: If you want to play solo, you will need to have at least advanced items to deal with monsters on your own. If you play in a party where Conviction aura or Lower resist curse is available, a low budget build will still be efficient.

Mana/Life: Lightning fury uses a lot of mana, so i suggest using a normal/hell act2 combat mercenary for the prayer aura’s mana regeneration ability, having % mana stolen per hit on your gear, or have full rejuvenation or mana potions available at all times. Life % stolen per hit will also come handy unless you want to rely on potions.

Movement/Mobility: The character’s movement speed depends entirely on gearing. In high-end gear, your runspeed will be very fast compared to other characters, especially if you have some 3% Faster run and walk small charms in your inventory, or +1 java 7%FRW skillers.

Ubers: Uber Diablo can easily be killed by Charged Strike, but Uber Tristram will pose difficulties.

Skill panel: You can spam any skills by holding down the shift button and clicking simultaneously. For the left skill panel, i suggest using Charged Strike (F1). For the right skill panel, Lightning Fury (F2), Teleport(F3), Power Strike(F4), Valkyrie(F5), Battle command(F6) and Battle Orders(F7) can be used. F8 can be spared for town portal.

Mercenary: Use normal/hell act2 combat mercenary for the prayer aura’s mana regeneration ability.

Leveling

During leveling, our aim is to maximize damage output for quick progression, have decent survivability so you won’t die frequently, and have decent movement speed.

Skills: At the beginning use Jab, Power Strike, Lightning Bolt and then Charged Strike for attacking. Once Lightning Fury is available, use it as your primary attacking skill and use Charged Strike for single targets. Put one skill point on each of your passive skills as they become available.

Stats: Have enough strength and dexterity to be able to wear useful gear. Put all the remaining stat points on Vitality.

Useful Gear: Lore Helm (Ort-Sol), Peace Armor (Shael-Thul-Amn), Ancient’s Pledge Shield (Ral-Ort-Tal), Rhyme Shield (Shael-Eth), Magic of Rare Javelin with +Amazon or Javelin and spear skills, Thundergod’s Vigor Belt, Raven frost Ring, Magic or rare amulet with +Amazon or Javelin and spear skills , +3 to javelin and spear skills magic gloves, Spirit shield, Boots with % Movement Speed and preferably resistances.

Important breakpoints

How it works: Each second in the game consists of 24 frames or “ticks”. Your breakpoints decide how many frames it will take until you can attack/cast a skill/recover from a hit/ block a new hit.

Faster Cast Rate Faster Hit Recovery Faster Block Rate
0% FCR – 19 frames 0% FHR – 11 frames 0% FBR – 5 frames
7% FCR – 18 frames 6% FHR – 10 frames 13% FBR -4 frame
14% FCR – 17 frames 13% FHR – 9 frames 32% FBR -3 frame
22% FCR – 16 frames 20% FHR – 8 frames 86% FBR -2 frame
32% FCR – 15 frames 32% FHR – 7 frames
48% FCR – 14 frames 52% FHR – 6 frames
68% FCR – 13 frames 86% FHR – 5 frames

Build versatility and modifications

As the Javazon is able to solo almost the entire game if your merc has an Infinity, build modifications only make sense if you cannot afford it. My best tip would be to use Impale as your secondary attacking skill with a two-handed, high damage weapon setup as a secondary weapon so you can deal immense physical damage against lightning immune monsters.

Survivability and Hardcore tips

Useful skills:  Having higher level Passive skills ensures better overall survival. I suggest using Passive and Magic skill grand charms with +life in order not to waste skill points from attacking synergies.

Useful items: Call to arms is the obvious secondary weapon of choice due to it’s Battle Orders and Battle Command skills, which can increase your life tremendously. Crown of Ages helm and Verdungo belt are optional items in case you want to reduce physical damage taken. If you want to make yourself almost immune to elemental damages, Guardian Angel armor can be used to increase your maximum resistances, and for elemental damage absorption, The rising sun amulet (fire absorption), Dwarf star ring (Fire absorption), Hellmouth gloves (fire absorption), Wisp projector ring (lightning absorption), Thungergod’s Vigor belt (lightning absorption) or Raven Frost ring (cold absorption) can be used.

Defensive requirements:

To have high survivability, i suggest the following:

  • Have 75 allresist on Hell. Items that can help are Annihilus, Hellfire Torch,Shako with Um rune, Stormshield with Um rune, Chains of Honor Armor, Mara’s Kaleidoscope, 5 Allres Small Charms,  15 Allres Grand Charms
  • Have enough Dexterity to have 75% Chance to Block
  • If your Character is Hardcore, Have 50% Physical damage reduction, wear elemental damage absorption items, wearing Guardian Angel Armor for 90% allresist is suggested, upgrade as many unique items as possible for higher defense, reaching the 52% FHR breakpoint is also suggested. Have your belt stacked with Full Rejuvenation potions.

Other Active Skills

Impale (optional) – If you can’t afford an Infinity for your Merc, Impale with gear changes can be used to kill lightning immune monsters. Teleport (optional) -Teleporting requires an Enigma runeword armor, but it might be useful for moving through obstacles.

Call to Arms Skills

Battle command (CTA) – Always use it if you have a CTA. Make sure to cast it twice. Battle orders (CTA) – Always use it if you have a CTA. It provides immense Life and Mana boosts.

Stats

Strength ► Just enough to be able to wear your items. With Hellfire Torch, Annihilus, Enigma and stats on other items you might not even have to put stat points on it.

Dexterity ► Just enough to have 75% Chance to Block with Holy Shield activated.

Vitality ► Spend all your remaining points on it.

Energy ► Don’t spend any points on it.

You can re-stat your character by the quest reward of Akara’s Act1 Den of Evil Quest, or by using Token of Absolution
